The Top Anime of 2015

Happy New Years’ guys!

It’s around this time that almost every blogger puts out their top anime list of 2015, but since I already did it for my Twelve Days with nothing changing since then, that’d be really redundant of me now wouldn’t it? Nevertheless, I’m sure there are some readers who missed it or want an easier time looking back at my entries regarding what I consider the best and worst anime of 2015, so here’s an index with accompanying links.

Best Anime of 2015

1. Concrete Revolutio
2. Garo: The Carved Seal of Flames
3. Death Parade
4. Noragami Aragoto
5. Punch Line
6. Sound Euphonium

Worst Anime of 2015

1. Plastic Memories
2. Yatterman Night/Comet Lucifer
3. Durarara!!x2 (Shou/Ten)
4. The Rolling Girls
5. Classroom Crisis
6. Blood Blockade Battlefront

Minor Quips

  • Incidentally, don’t play any drinking games where you take a sip every time you see either Shirobako or Sound Euphonium on one. You’ll be dead within the first minute.
  • Two Bones shows, two Mappa shows, a Madhouse show, and a KyoAni show on my best list. Try calling me a hipster with that selection (gets yelled at by Shirobako fans).
  • I’m not sure if One-Punch Man is a popular selection amongst my colleagues, but it wouldn’t surprise me either way.
  • My top movies for 2015 have been posted on the site as well. It will most likely be updated once I’ve gotten to seeing The Hateful Eight.
  • I’m still catching up on video games, so there won’t be a top list for them at the moment. I’ll do one eventually though.
  • Incidentally, the best overall shows of 2015 were Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Rick & Morty S2, F is for Family, and South Park S19.

  1. I got issues with your worst six (as might be expected) although not with all of them, but other than Noragami Aragoto I can’t really hate on your top list at all. That’s a line up of solid shows, and while I don’t share your level of enthusiasm for any of them beside Conrevo and Death Parade, I do feel like this top list is actually quite indicative of the kinds of things you like.

It’s been fun actually liking a show in common with you over the past few months with Conrevo. ^_^”

  2. I wasn’t sure whether Punch Line would be on anyone’s list, but I was hoping it would be.

The Hateful Eight is a lot slower and less comic than Tarantino’s other movies, but not necessarily in a bad way. It’s not very well-constructed as a mystery, but I think you’d probably like everything else.

  3. I am curious, in case this is a top 10 list, what would be the other four? Thank you for Punch Line and Garo by the way.

  4. Happy New Year! Very pleasing to see that your overall favourite shows of the year are all non-Japanese anime.

I’ll be very interested to see what your opinion of The Hateful Eight will be, as it looks to be Tarantino’s most divisive since Death Proof.
